My name is Keiko Melling and I currently reside in California. I am a self-taught and I’ve always been interested in art. I have been painting in both oil and acrylic; I have decided that I enjoy both mediums and like the challenges presented by each.
I travelled all over the world and have lived in three different countries. Most of my paintings are landscapes from my memories and photographs. I also love to paint underwater landscapes and various animals. I am a great animal lover and enjoy showing their energetic, active nature in my paintings.
My painting technique: I use light to mid strong colors and images that are well defined. I begin painting as the feeling moves me. I am careful to create images that have interesting value and composition and I paint around the canvas watching for balance. I have incorporated into my paintings a looseness that allows the media of oil or acrylic to do what it does best--flow and mingle. I feel as if the creative process almost flows through me and some of my best paintings come when I allow the canvas to speak to me.
I love sharing my paintings with others, so I've created this Web site to showcase my works of art and hope you will enjoy seeing them. It's been a delight to share my paintings with you.
